From May 3 to 7, 2019, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu visited Sudan, during which she met respectively with Head of the Transitional Military Council Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan, Deputy Head of the Transitional Military Council Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, and acting Foreign Minister Ibrahim of Sudan, exchanging views on the situation in Sudan, China-Sudan relations and other issues. H.E. Ma Xinmin, Chinese Ambassador to Sudan, attended above meetings.
Special Representative Xu Jinghu noted that paying high attention to the development of the situation in Sudan, the Chinese side hopes to, through this visit, promote friendly dialogue among all parties concerned in Sudan, push Sudan to achieve peace and stability, and facilitate the continuous and steady development of China-Sudan friendship and cooperation. The Chinese side will as always support the Sudanese people in independently choosing a development path suitable to its national conditions, and hopes that all parties concerned in Sudan can build broad consensus through consultation and dialogue, and steadily advance political transition process to maintain national peace, stability and development. China and Sudan are traditionally friendly countries. No matter how the situation may evolve, China-Sudan friendship and bilateral strategic consensus on developing friendly cooperation will remain unchanged.
Head Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan, Deputy Head Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, and acting Foreign Minister Ibrahim thanked the Chinese side for paying attention to the situation in Sudan, and introduced the situation of the Transitional Military Council's enhancing of dialogue and consultation with all parties concerned in Sudan as well as the steady advancement of the political transition process. They also expressed that China is an important strategic partner of Sudan, and bilateral traditional friendship has taken root in the people's hearts. The Chinese side has provided Sudan with precious support all the time, and bilateral practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results. The Sudanese side will continue committing to developing strategic cooperation with the Chinese side, so as to push Sudan-China relations for constant, stable and forward-looking development.
During her stay in Sudan, Special Representative Xu Jinghu also carried out contacts and exchanges with some political factions and social organizations of Sudan, and gave an interview to Chinese and Sudanese media.
