Li Zhaoxing Meets with Sudanese Foreign Minister
On September 29, 2004, Li Zhaoxing met with his Sudanese counterpart Ismail in New York. The two sides were both satisfied with the cooperation in all fields between the two countries and exchanged in depth views on the issue of Darfur, Sudan. Li said that the Darfur issue is of extensive concern by the international society and he expressed his hope that the Sudanese Government could take practical measures and cooperate with the international society in order to improve the humanitarian conditions in Darfur. Ismail thanked the Chinese side for its efforts in pushing forward the progress in resolving the Darfur issue. He noted that the Sudanese Government will strengthen the cooperation with the African Union, the Arabic Union as well as the UN so as to make substantial progress in solving the Darfur issue.
